Developing Mental Health Crisis Alternatives across the city and county.

Crisis Cafés are one of three ‘Mental Health Crisis Alternatives’ which aim to ensure that people in Derby city and across Derbyshire can access a range of services to receive support and prevent crisis out of hours. A Crisis Café provides a warm and welcoming space in the evenings and at weekends for anyone who feels they are approaching a mental health crisis. It will be staffed by trained mental health workers and have access to NHS Clinicians.

We are working with Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (DDCCG) to ensure that the voluntary sector can play a role in the development, delivery and evaluation of Derby and Derbyshire’s new Crisis Cafés.

The aim is to increase access to mental health support within the community to reduce impact on current mental health support pathways particularly A&E, Emergency Services and Hospital Liaison Services.
