COMMUNITY NETWORKS

โ€‹โ€‹

Five community networks have been established in Kirk Hallam, Cotmanhay, Petersham, Sandiacre & Sawley. The networks have been initiated and funded by the Erewash Health and Wellbeing Partnership based on seven community wellness principles.

โ€‹

Community networks are a partnership of community groups, organisations and individuals that have an interest in improving the health and wellbeing of residents. Each network is working to a community wellness action plan.

โ€‹

Derbyshire County Council Public Health, commissioned Erewash Voluntary Action to support local communities, through the creation of the Sandiacre and Sawley networks. These networks are designed to bring people together, strengthen local connections, and provide practical support for community groups. Through these networks, community groups can access small funding grants. They can also benefit from the advice and support of the Community Activator, and connect with other local groups to share skills, resources, and ideas.

โ€‹

This collaboration helps strengthen the work already happening in our area and creates new opportunities for partnership. The Community Activator regularly visits local groups during their activities, offering guidance and encouragement, and helping groups link with services providers who share similar interests. The project also works to inspire local residents to join community activities, get involved with local groups, and build new friendships. By supporting groups and encouraging participation, the networks aim to reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, and foster a stronger, more connected community in Sandiacre and Sawley.
